Indexation table: health index by month
The rent indexation table brings together the health index values needed to calculate a rent increase in Belgium. You will also find the cadastral income indexation coefficient and the alimony indexation table for Belgium. Three official tables, one page, regularly updated.
For the principle of rent indexation: pillar guide.
The health index is published monthly by Statbel, a federal public service. It reflects the evolution of consumer prices excluding tobacco, alcohol and fuels.
How to read the rent indexation table
For calculating the indexation of a lease: starting index (health index for the month preceding the signing of the lease, at the entry into force of the contract) and new index (health index for the month preceding the anniversary date).

Indexation table Wallonia and other regions
The Wallonia rent indexation table applies a corrective factor based on the EPC. The health index table is national, but the final result (indexed rent) varies by region:
- Walloon Region: blocked for EPC F/G, reduced for EPC E.
- Brussels: progressive correction factor.
- Flanders: own rules.

Cadastral income indexation coefficient
The cadastral income indexation coefficient is an official figure distinct from rent indexation. It is used to update the cadastral income each year on 1 January.
This coefficient is published by the FPS Finance and is taken into account for calculating income tax (via the indexed cadastral income), property tax (a regional tax), and municipal and provincial surcharges.
Cadastral income indexation coefficient table 2022 — 2026
| Tax year | Cadastral income coefficient |
|---|---|
| 2022 | 1.9084 |
| 2023 | 2.0915 |
| 2024 | 2.1763 |
| 2025 | ~2.2240 |
| 2026 (published at start of year) | To be updated |
Indicative values. Consult the FPS Finance (myminfin.be) for the official value.
What is this coefficient for as a landlord?
Calculate your indexed cadastral income in your tax return, verify the property tax received, estimate the tax burden of a rental investment. This table has no direct connection with the calculation of indexed rent.
Alimony indexation table Belgium
The alimony indexation table for Belgium is a third mechanism: alimony payments are adjusted annually to the cost of living.
The mechanism is similar to rent indexation: base = consumer price index, annual frequency, formula = new alimony = initial alimony x (new index / starting index).
The reference tables are published by the FPS Economy. Unlike rent, judges may specify a specific indexation mechanism in their ruling.
How to use these three tables
| Table | For whom? | Update frequency |
|---|---|---|
| Rent indexation table (health index) | Landlord, tenant | Monthly |
| Cadastral income indexation coefficient | Property owner, taxpayer | Annual (1 January) |
| Alimony indexation table | Divorced parties, creditors, debtors | Annual |
Three use cases:
- I am calculating my rent indexation — health index + formula in the calculation guide.
- I am preparing my tax return — cadastral income coefficient for the year.
- I receive alimony to be indexed — alimony indexation table.
None of these tables is needed when using our calculator: it automatically retrieves the up-to-date official values.
