The website www.bailbelgique.be uses cookies and similar technologies to ensure proper functioning, measure audience engagement and improve your experience. This page details which cookies are used, why, for how long and how to manage your preferences at any time.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) when you visit a website.
It allows certain information about your browsing to be remembered, for example:
- Your preferences (language, display theme)
- Your session identifiers (to stay logged in)
- Your consent choices (so you are not asked again on each visit)
- Your progress in a form being completed
Cookies allow the Site to recognise you during subsequent visits and adapt its behaviour accordingly.
2. Why do we use cookies?
BailBelgique uses cookies to:
- Ensure proper functioning of the Site (authentication, cart, preferences)
- Measure traffic and usage of different pages to improve content and usability
- Remember your preferences and adapt the Site’s presentation (e.g. saving progress in a form)
- Secure the operation of the Services and prevent fraud
- Personalise your experience and, with your consent, offer tailored communications

Some cookies are placed by third-party providers, particularly for audience analysis, advertising or integration of external features (social sharing, maps, videos).
These providers may use their own cookies in accordance with their respective policies, which we invite you to consult:
| Provider | Purpose | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Audience measurement | policies.google.com |
| Google Ads | Advertising and conversions | policies.google.com/ads |
| Meta (Facebook) | Advertising and pixels | facebook.com/privacy |
| B2B advertising | linkedin.com/privacy |
BailBelgique exercises no control over how these third parties use the data collected through their own cookies.
6. Cookie lifespan
There are two types of cookies based on their duration:
- Session cookies: temporary, they disappear when you close your browser
- Persistent cookies: remain stored on your device until they expire or are manually deleted
In accordance with the recommendation of the Belgian Data Protection Authority (DPA), the maximum lifespan of non-essential cookies is limited to 13 months. Upon expiry, a new consent request will be presented.
7. Consent
On your first visit to the Site, an information banner allows you to:
- Accept all: all cookies are activated
- Refuse all: only essential cookies remain active
- Customise: you choose category by category
Your choice is stored for 13 months. After that, or if you change browser/device, the banner will reappear.
You can change your preferences at any time via the cookie manager available at the bottom of every page. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
8. How to manage your cookies?
8.1 Via our cookie manager
8.2 Via your browser
You can also configure your browser to accept, refuse or delete cookies. The configuration differs between browsers:
Blocking all cookies (including essential ones) may prevent the Site from functioning properly: inability to log in, loss of preferences, or errors when submitting forms.
9. Other tracking technologies
In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies:
- Web beacons (invisible pixels): for example, to know if you have opened an email sent by BailBelgique
- LocalStorage / SessionStorage: local storage in your browser to remember session data
- Fingerprinting: identification based on your device characteristics. BailBelgique does not use this technique
These technologies are subject to the same consent requirements as cookies.
10. Policy updates
This cookie policy may be updated to reflect:
- Legal and regulatory developments (GDPR, ePrivacy)
- Recommendations from the DPA and EDPB
- Addition or removal of third-party cookies
- Changes to our Services
Any modification takes effect upon publication. The date of last update appears at the top of this page. In the event of a substantial change (new cookie, new purpose), a new consent request will be presented.
